Video Oculography (VOG)

The VOG test, also known as an electro-oculogram, is an advanced test used to evaluate eye movement and track neural and muscular activity associated with eye movement. It records and tracks eye movement with high precision using sensitive cameras and specialized software.

It is a non-invasive test that uses cameras and infrared light to accurately monitor and track eye movement in all directions.

It is used to map eye movement during visual exercises or when looking at specific targets.

It is an advanced alternative to some balance and vision tests related to the vestibular system (associated with the inner ear).

🎯 Importance of the VOG test:
Diagnosing balance disorders and dizziness:
1- It is used to determine whether dizziness or vertigo problems are caused by a defect in the eye or inner ear.

2- Evaluating the functions of the cranial nerves associated with the eye:
Such as the third, fourth, and sixth cranial nerves, which control eye movement.

3- Diagnosing strabismus and binocular vision disorders:
It helps determine the causes of imbalance between the eyes.

4- Monitoring involuntary eye movements (nystagmus):
Detects any abnormal movements that may be caused by diseases of the nervous system.

5- An important tool for neurological patients:
Especially in assessing the impact of certain neurological diseases, such as multiple sclerosis or Parkinson's disease, on the eye.

6- Before and after neurological or ophthalmic surgeries:
Used to monitor and analyze results and compare visual movement before and after the procedure.
